This course is open to anybody who wants to attain a professional qualification in fitness instruction and personal training. The qualification is awarded by the University of Limerick and it is the only fitness qualification in Ireland that is university accredited. It is also recognised by the European Health and Fitness Association as well as being the only fitness qualification on the Irish National Qualification Framework.
Graduates are qualified to teach classes in circuit training, resistance and weights, body conditioning, step, flexibility and exercise to music. They are trained to carry out fitness assessments and design fitness programmes for a variety of people with different fitness objectives.
Fitness trainers will normally work in gyms, fitness clubs, leisure centres and spas. Many set up their own businesses and a number work with sports clubs and teams.
The course is run by Motions Health and Fitness Training at two locations in Dublin City Centre and Palmerstown. Motions has been teaching this course for over 20 years. The tutors are experienced fitness instructors who have worked in every aspect of the fitness industry. This adds to the practical nature of the course and gives students an insight into careers in fitness.
